On Saturday, January 19th, Big Brothers Big Sisters was part of the Inaugural “Day of Service,” held on the National Mall in Washington, DC with Honorary Chairwoman, Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and former President Bill Clinton.

Big Brother David Rose and Little Brother Amir joined Michael Brown, BBBSNCA’s Senior Director of Child and Volunteer Enrollment, and other BBBS staff members to greet visitors, hand out literature, answer questions about mentoring, and sign up prospective mentors.

The Service Fair uses the momentum of the Inauguration to expand the vision of building stronger communities through a year-long pledge from the public for community service throughout 2013. President Barack Obama and the First Lady continued this four-year tradition to honor the life and legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., to have all Americans serve with others in their communities across our region and the nation.
