Our Mentoring Programs Work

Research has shown that positive relationships between youth and their big Brothers and Big Sisters mentors have a direct and measurable impact on children’s lives. Little Brothers and Sisters in the Washington Region are:

  • 85% less likely to have contact with Juvenile Courts
  • 70% less likely than their peers to initiate drug usage
  • 64% achieved higher grades and
  • 33% were less likely to hit someone

Big Brothers Big Sisters has a stellar record in helping children on a daily basis make healthy choices to stay in school, stay out of trouble and on track toward healthy and productive futures.

A Big Brother or Sister is someone who has found ways to succeed in life and cares enough to pass on these lessons.
